TIDES (MS)Noise training – Vienna 2016 The aim of this Training School is to demonstrate the powers and limitations of using ambient seismic noise for seismological studies using continuous data, for example using ambient seismic noise cross-correlation for computing dv/v, surface wave tomography or microseismic activity tracking. The MSNoise package will be introduced and then used by participants on provided demo data. New developments to MSNoise will be presented too: an easier configuration interface, an improved pluggability and the demonstration of external plugins currently in development (e.g. PPSD, TOMO or SARA). The workshop will occur during the weekend following the EGU 2016 General Assembly and will be ran over three days. During the first day, we will make sure everyone has the right software and provide a refresher course on Python/ObsPy. The second day will contain review presentations related to "the seismic noise" followed by a practical using MSNoise. On the third day, other techniques like Amplitude Ratio and Tomography will be presented before a MSNoise hacking session.
